Engineering maintenance, it's wise to be cautious, essential to be safe

Drives Maintenance & Troubleshooting training

Stop wasting money “repairing” Drives that are not faulty!

In the heat of the moment, in desperation, how many times do people swap a Drive to see if they can solve a machine breakdown?  Often the Drive is put aside to be sent away for repair (just as worrying, they’re sometimes put back in stores as a good unit).  Talk to Drives manufacturers, see how often Drives are sent for repair for trivial reasons such as a blown fuse – sometimes there’s nothing wrong at all.  Attend our Drives First-line Maintenance course & save money by learning how to troubleshoot Drives problems & learn how to test a Drive.

Health & Safety responsibilities under PUWER

Fulfil your legal obligations under PUWER & make sure your people understand how to work with & swap out a Drive safely.  You probably know, Drives can deliver a serious shock even when the power is removed & maintenance people need to know how to handle them properly.  The H&S Executive is currently handling its first fatality under the new Corporate Manslaughter act & “responsible persons” can face fines of up to £50,000 or even a prison sentence.  Training here isn’t just a good idea, it’s a legal requirement.

Save energy - reduce electricity bills through being more efficient

With the high cost of energy directly hitting bottom line profits, why not provide your maintenance people with a little more knowledge about Drives so they can look out for opportunities on your site where you can save hundreds or even thousands of pounds.  In industry, motors account for over 80% of the energy used on a typical site.  Knowing the effects that some of those mysterious Drives parameters have will allow you to review the settings so you can match the Drive to the motor & the application.  In your car you wouldn’t set the cruise control for 90 MPH & then pull the handbrake on a notch or two just to slow you down a bit (would you)?

Reduce unnecessary mechanical wear & failures

And don’t forget, what about those parameters?  Do you know what the settings should be?  The parameter settings for a Drive swapped last year may be only as good as the accuracy of the person who did the job.  A simple error here may be the cause of the repeat breakdowns you now get or the reasons why bearings just don’t seem to last as long anymore!
