17th Edition Practical Testing (INTACS accredited course) |
This new course will add practical value
to a person’s C&G 2382-10 qualification & help ensure that not only
can they navigate the 17th Edition RED book but they can perform all
of the crucial electrical safety tests on single & 3 phase domestic,
commercial & industrial systems. The City & Guilds 2382-10 course
does not cover the practical aspects in the course or the exam.
This is a reminder of some of the TESTs covered on this action
packed day
-
Continuity testing
- Phase Rotation testing
- Earth Loop Impedance testing
- RCD testing
- Volt drop testing
- Polarity tests
- Insulation testing
- Prospective Fault Current
testing
- Earth Continuity
- Earth Bond
- Dielectric Strength
- Touch Current measurement
You get to use a range of test
equipment & you are welcome to bring your 17th Edition tester to
practice putting the regulations to real use with everyday
scenarios.
Extra benefit
Also there’s a BONUS to this course, we’ll even cover the
electrical tests that people should know how to perform for PAT
Portable Appliance Testing & we even cover the following key
topics: -
- Borrowed Neutrals
- Minor Works forms
- Old versus New Wiring
- Other useful test equipment
Delegates will be awarded the
following: -
INTACS accredited 17th Edition Practical Testing certificate

Industrial 17th Edition Wiring Regulations (INTACS accredited course) |
First let me make it
clear that there is NO Legal or mandatory requirement for
electricians & multi-skilled maintenance personnel to hold a valid
certificate to show a pass in the City & Guilds 17th Edition Wiring
Regulations course.
There is however a requirement for electricians & multi-skilled
maintenance personnel to be fully aware & competent with the
BS7671:2008 IEE Wiring Regulations & the implications for electrical
safety relating to their job & related tasks.
The current City & Guilds 2382-10 (full 17th Edition Wiring
Regulations) or 2382-20 (Up-date from the 16th to 17th Edition
Wiring Regulations) courses check that delegates can navigate the
contents of the BS7671:2008 IEE 17th Edition Regulations Red Book
quickly.
INTACS training offer an Industrial version of the 17th Edition
Wiring Regulations course that focuses on the industrial content of
the regulations & not so much on the domestic, leisure &
agricultural installations.
We do however make more of the industrial requirements & more
importantly cover the practical aspects of performing all the key
tests to prove safe compliance with the regulations.
For example, it is all very well knowing which page in the
regulations to turn to, to display a table of parameters or readings
for earth loop impedance, it is quite another skill to be able to
connect the correct piece of test equipment to a machine to confirm
if the earth loop impedance is correct & safe & this is what
we
achieve on the INTACS industrial version of the course.
Delegates will be awarded the following: -
Delegates receive a 17th Edition Wiring Regulations certificate
following attendance on the full 1 day course & completion of an
open book assessment (like the City & Guilds exam) of their
knowledge & (unlike C&G) basic practical testing skill. We do not
put a strict time limit on the assessment of delegate’s knowledge;
we are more realistic & are looking for proof of understanding &
practical ability & that is what is required in the real world.

Fundamental Inspection, Testing & Initial Verification of Electrical
Installations (C&G 2392-10) |
This course is aimed at
delegates who have limited experience of inspection & testing of
electrical installations & hold a 17th Edition Wiring Regulations
(C&G 2382-10) certificate. This course is suitable for personnel who
are responsible for managing Periodic Inspection & Testing or
for engineers who are required to perform inspection & testing of
their own work. It also can also be used as a stepping stone to
achieving the full C&G 2391-10, Level 3 Inspect, Test &
Certification qualification.
When we conduct the C&G 2392-10 course, we also cover the important
Inspection & Testing of 3 phase circuits & systems (not
covered on the standard C&G 2392-10 course) that is required for
commercial & industrial customers.
Delegates are required to achieve a pass in both of the
following: -
Theory exam, Multiple-choice (closed book) on-line lasting
1hr & 40 minutes
Practical assessment lasting 2hrs
Course content
-
Requirements of the
Electricity at Work Regulations
-
Visual inspection of
new work
-
Completion of an
Electrical Installation Certificate, Minor Electrical
Installation Works Certificate, Schedule of Inspection & a
Schedule of Test Results
-
Testing techniques
-
Three phase testing
& certification (INTACS accreditation)
Delegates will be
awarded the following: -
Fundamentals Inspection, Testing & Initial Verification of
Electrical Installations (2392-10) certificate
INTACS accredited
Inspection & Testing of 3 phase circuits & systems certificate
